(Review is of the 2016 vintage; we stock the 2020. The grape composition of the wine has changed in the interim years.)
Pizzini’s makes it’s “Rosetta” rose out of sangiovese, as you’d expect.
Some rose seems inspired by red wine; others by white. This is in the latter camp. It’s as much about citrus as it is about red cherry and rose petals, its tart acid drive giving it a high refreshment factor. It has both spice and grip; it has food-friendliness covered.
89/100 - Campbell Mattinson, The Wine Front
Our Rosetta is a Sangiovese Nebbiolo Rosé, a tribute to our Matriarch. Rosetta loved her garden it was her escape from long days working. Aromas of strawberries and wild raspberries. Dry and crisp with fresh cherry and plum flavours, the Nebbiolo lending length.
This rosé has been made from selected Sangiovese and Nebbiolo vineyards that are noted for producing soft, delicate and fruity styles of wine. The fruit was machine picked, crushed and left on its skins for 8 – 9 hours. After pressing, the juice was then slowly cool fermented at 15˚C to retain fruit aromatics and freshness.
Alfredo and Katrina Pizzini built Pizzini Wines based on their passions and their commitment to family and Pizzini’s Italian heritage. Their winemaking dream began in 1978 when they planted the first vines on the property, then in 1994 the first wine under the Pizzini label was produced.
Today Alfredo and Katrina's four adult children Natalie, Joel, Carlo and Nicole all work in the business alongside them.
